Not everyone is ready for the Barton Reading & Spelling System. This is not just a regular reading tutoring program. Although you do not need a diagnosis to start tutoring, you should have a strong suspicion that dyslexia is the culprit.
Is it Dyslexia?

Tutoring Details
You are committing to consistently getting your child to a minimum of two 50 minute sessions per week. This is imperative to close the deficiency gap in skills. Each 50 minute session is $65 with payment due at the beginning of each month. Although you can end tutoring at any time, a long-term commitment will insure your child’s learning is consistent which will improve their cognitive understanding.
There are no quick fixes for dyslexia. The Barton Reading & Spelling System takes approximately 3 1/2 - 4 years to complete assuming a moderate case of dyslexia with consistent, year-round tutoring occurring at least two times a week. The more frequent the tutoring the faster a student will progress.
If you are able, I encourage parents to sit as a quiet partner to observe tutoring. There are many advantages to this:
- First-hand knowledge of improvement in small and large increments
- Observe how your child learns
- Learn things about the English language that you never knew
- Learn your child’s strengths and weaknesses
- Glean ways to reinforce ideas at home or how to encourage your child specifically
